Somewhere along the road, I came up with a delusional idea. I thought that one day I was going to have this incredible experience with God, and from then on, I would be happy and I would forgive the people who I’ve been hurt by without looking back. I, for some reason, thought that once I forgave or once I decided to be happy, that would be it. I thought that I would never have to deal with unhappiness or unforgiveness again. Yeah… NO!
Let’s face the facts. You’re not going to wake up every morning feeling happy. You’re not going to WANT to forgive every time you’re hurt. You’re not going to always want to love everyone through their junk, but this is where these important decisions come in. If you don’t choose how you want to live out your day, week, month, year or your LIFE, you will simply be existing. You will become a product of what has happened to you, not a product of who you are called to be. Every single day you have decisions to make. Are you going to be happy? Are you going to forgive? Are you going to love? You have the power and the authority inside of you to frame your world. These seemingly trivial choices are what make up our lives.
The fun thing about making these daily decisions is that one day you’ll wake up and realize that you’ve formed a habit. How awesome would it be to have habits of joy, forgiveness and love? These choices that you’ve deliberately made will turn into unconscious choices, and you’ll move on to bigger and better.
